The 6th ETRIA Conference TRIZ Future 2006 was successfully conducted in Kortrijk, Belgium, October 9-11, 2006. 120 participants from 27 countries visited the conference. This year the conference was split to two sections: academic and practical, and ETRIA plans to follow the same decision during next conferences.

At the beginning of the conference, the results of ETRIA presidential elections were announced. By winning an absolute majority of voting members, a new president of ETRIA for next two years was elected: Prof. Gaetano Cascini (University of Florence, Italy).

During the conference, several Board meetings were conducted.

At the end of the conference, the decision was made to hold the 7th ETRIA Conference TRIZ Future 2007 in Franfurkt, Germany in cooperation with German TRIZ Centrum, academic partner Technical University of Munich (Prof. Udo Lindemann), and chair Peter Schweitzer.
